Smart choices, poor choices

Working this debt-free journey.

Smart choices, poor choices

It feels like life is always a series of smart choices and poor choices.

Smart choices: 1) Eating snacks I packed in my lunch bag instead of buying a snack at the store. 2) Paying my surprise car repair bill with the paltry amount I had in my savings account instead of charging it to a credit card. 3) Coming home and making food for dinner [okay, it was a frozen pizza, but I still count it as a win!] instead of hitting up Taco Bell or McDonald’s.

Poor choices: 1) For total honesty – when setting up this blog, I charged the fees to my credit card. Yipes! 2) Over the last 2 weeks, several of my students have mentioned that the LOVE the movie Christmas Vacation from the National Lampoon series. I had never seen it, and being the Christmas-movie lover that I am, decided to check it out. Of course I chose to purchase it through Amazon, which means it goes on my Amazon credit card.

And while I am mad at myself for those poor choices, I realize that this is a marathon, not a sprint. I will make mistakes and make bad choices regarding my finances in the future. But I need to move past them and try my best to not repeat them. One bad mistake does not need to derail my overall journey. And I’m proud that I am finally realizing that.

Good night,
